About the Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup Echinacia root

Vodka - 80 proof minimum

Preparation

Add one cup echniacia root to a pint sized mason jar. Fill with Vodka. Put lid on jar and shake to ensure roots are submerged. Place on a shelf in a cool, dark place. Shake jar every day or so to ensure roots stay submerged and marinating.

After 4-6 weeks place a clean pint jar on counter. Place a funnel, then strainer, then cheese cloth on jar and pour tincture into the new jar. Squeeze out any excess from the cheese cloth when done.

Make sure you label your jar.

Take 1 teaspoon every 2 hours as soon as symptoms begin. As you start to feel better, reduce frequency to 1 teaspoon twice a day. Echinacia is only meant to be used for 3-5 days. You can add your teaspoon with your Elderberry Syrup.

Echinacea is one of the most popular herbs in America today. Echinacea is a Native American medicinal plant named for the prickly scales in its large conical seed head, which resembles the spines of an angry hedgehog (echinos is Greek for hedgehog).

For general immune system stimulation, during colds, flu, upper respiratory tract infections, or bladder infections, take echinacea.

For Best Results - use Certified Organic - or Non GMO Vodka. You can use flowers in your tincture - but the roots have more medicinal properties.
